New Headmaster for Wellesley House

The new Headmaster of Wellesley House from September 2017 will be Mr Gavin Franklin.

Aged 38, Gavin is currently a Housemaster at Wellington College, Berkshire, one of the country’s leading independent co-ed senior schools. Educated at Malvern College and Durham University, and a former professional cricketer with Warwickshire and ECB Level 4 coach, Gavin went to Wellington as Assistant Director of Sport and teacher of English (to both A level and International Baccalaureate level). He was swiftly promoted to be Housemaster of the Beresford, a role which he has performed for the last six years with great distinction. In that time he has also had valuable experience as a governor of a prep school in Hampshire, and has developed a wide network of contacts in the prep school world. Gavin is keen on the outdoors and on all sporting activities, including cricket, golf and dog-walking!  Travelling, music and reading are also interests.

His wife Claire is also a Durham graduate and a teacher who has taught in both state primary and prep schools.  Her interests include health and fitness (pilates, swimming, cycling and netball) as well as cookery and reading. Gavin and Claire have two young sons, William (aged 6) and Samuel (aged 3).

We are very excited and confident that they will prove worthy successors to Simon and Katy O’Malley.
