Maths Competition Success
Mathematicians from Block 1 and Block 2 went to Sutton Valence School on Thursday for their annual Prep Schools' Maths Competition. One Under 13 team and two Under 12 teams took on the challenge of solving a series of mind-bending problems against the clock. The Under 12 'A' team were competing near the top of the leader-board throughout and finished in a highly commendable third place, out of seventeen, behind two very strong teams. The Under 12 'B' team also answered a number of questions correctly to finish within the main pack. The Under 13s had much to live up to, following last year's success in this competition. After a slow start, during which one school of the fifteen competing looked to be coasting to victory, we made up ground steadily and took the lead with just a few minutes left. A tense finale saw none of the top teams able to score further points and we thus won the Under 13 competition for the fourth time and became the first school to retain the shield since the competition first took place in 1989.
Under 13 team: Ivan Borovyk, Paddy Fisher, Dominic Leo, Michael Ma
Under 12 'A' team: Freddie Evans, Freddy Fisher, Oscar Kuang, Steven Wu
