Evensong at Canterbury Cathedral

On Sunday, the combined choirs of Wellesley and JKS sang evensong at Canterbury Cathedral.  This has become a biennial event and is certainly one to look forward to.

This has become a biennial event and is certainly one to look forward to.  This year's service was special as it also marked the departure of both schools' headmasters.  Rehearsal time was tight, but the children thoroughly enjoyed singing in such an amazing building and particularly liked the singing with the lower voices, the altos, tenors and basses.  There was a good turnout from families and friends, with the Quire pretty much filled to capacity.  The music included an Introit 'Never Weather-Beaten Sail' by Richard Shephard, 'Evening Canticles in C' by Charles Villiers Stanford and the coronation anthem 'I was Glad' by Parry, a particularly formidable proposition with all our Block 1 singers in France!  The service was very enjoyable and is certainly a tradition we hope we will continue to observe.

Pictures to follow shortly.
