On Saturday 4th July the Friends of Wellesley had their first Summer Party in the beautiful gardens of Goodnestone Park. We were extremely lucky with the weather and 250 friends of Wellesley came to support us. The audience ranged from members of the school, parents, members of staff and Old Welleslians some who were at the school during the war; and all enjoyed the magical atmosphere.
We were first entertained by a steel band from the Skinners Girls School in Hackney which set the party going. Old Welleslian Joss Barnes then took to the stage with his band '3times Daily' from Harrow to great applause, his drumming was superb. Perhaps the highlight of the evening was Wellesley’s very own 'Status Quo Rejects', with Jonathon Mount, Jean Latteur, Phyl Wallace, Michael Radford and Ian Quirke, the audience could not fail to get to their feet, what a delight to see David Hillard dancing with members of the Junior House and all having a wonderful time. The teenagers amongst the audience were particularly delighted when Old Welleslian Guy Prall and his band ‘Cavalier’ played to end the evening, and sent all the girls hearts racing; we will surely be hearing more from this band.
Our sincere thanks to Lady Fitzwalter for letting us use Goodnestone, to all the bands and to James Heming from Heart Radio who compèred the evening.
We raised over £3000, after giving a donation to The Kidney Foundation and will use the funds to purchase new furnishings for the Common Rooms and equipment for the new Games Room.

QUIZ NIGHT SATURDAY 20TH MARCH 2010
(to be held at school, details will follow)
The school have given us a notice board which is located outside the dining room. Please check this for news of 'The Friends' as well as keeping up to date by reading this link on the school website.
We are delighted to have been able to purchase the play equipment which has been installed next to the Junior House and is being enjoyed by all members of the school. Our next big project is to buy the school a People Carrier, to use to transport children to tennis, chess, squash and other matches where a mini bus is not necessary. It will also be used for outings and other trips. We will make sure that there is an inscription on the doors which says "Donated by The Friends of Wellesley".
