Pastroral Care

Pastoral Care

" The quality of pastrol care is outstanding and the school is very successful in ensuring the welfare, health and safety of its pupils. "
ISI report 2007

At Wellesley we pride ourselves on our pastoral care. The welfare of all our pupils is the single most important aspect of their education. From the moment they join the school there is a network of care and there are always people the children can turn to if they are in need. Every child has a form tutor and all boarders are looked after by a Housemaster and his wife. In the Junior School (Years 3 and 4) the Housemaster takes responsibility not only for the boarding but also for daily routine and parental liaison. Year 5 children also board in the Junior House thus providing a sensitive transition between this area of the school and the middle school. The middle school is overseen by a number of staff who have direct responsibility for the pastoral care of all Year 5 and 6 children. In Years 7 and 8 the Director of Boarding, the Headmaster and his wife take responsibility for the welfare of all boys. All the boarding girls in addition to their form tutors are looked after by the Housemaster and his wife at The Orchard (our girls' boarding house).

Children are encouraged to be children, protected and nurtured in their vulnerable years and not forced to grow up too soon. They are given the freedom to express themselves, room to run, and better use of their free time that boarding makes possible.

" Relations amongst pupils and between pupils and adults are remarkable and exemplary. "

" Very much in line with its aims, an atmosphere of mature trust pervades the work of the school. "
